joomlaYou are excited about starting your new website and have chosen Joomla as your content management system, the first part you need to complete is your domain name choose your hosting provider and hosting plan and buy your domain name from the same provider if possible, this will eliminate the domain pointing to the incorrect name servers.

The next step is to download Joomla from the developers Joomla Download just download the zip file and save to desktop, login to your hosting providers account and find the access to your cpanal or use this url ( https://domain.com:2083/ ) and replace domain.com with your own domain name, and login with your usernme and password from your hosting provider.

From cpanal interface look for databases and select the database wizard, create a new database name one that you can remember, hit next create a database user and password make sure to write the complete database name and user down as you will need both when installing Joomla hit create user, you will be taken to another page and select all privileges for the user return to cpanal home page.

From the cpanal interface look for file manager click and select document root then in the drop down select your domain name and select the domaim name then click go to open, you are now in the public_html this where your Joomla files will be uploaded to, find upload at the top of the interface click and locate the Joomla zip file from your desktop the file will automatically upload.

When the zip file has been uploaded select return to public_html you will now see the Joomla zip file in the public_html, right click on the file and unzip when the file has been unziped refresh the page and delete the zip file only, leave the Joomla files alone, you can now log out of cpanal and your account ready for the next step the installation of Joomla.

This next step will not work unless your domain name has propagated when you purchase your domain it can take around forty eight hours for your domain to propagate, assuming your domain has propagated type in your full domain in a browser (www.yourdomain.com) and the joomla installer will popup, now you need to enter your full username and the data base name and password you created earlier hit next and check the other details are correct.

When you have purchased a ready made website with the content already in the install file you need to select install data or install content before the next step, the final step is to enter your website name, username, email address and back end password for your website this should be different to your database password, hit next and Joomla will start installing when finished be sure to remove the instalation folder and hopefully you will be taken to your new website.

Now that your website is live you can access the backend with your url plus an extension so your url will look like ( www.yourdomain.com/administrator ) then at the interface you need to enter your username and password you set up when you installed Joomla, not the username and password for your database, you can now start to add content change the template, all this is another learning curve buy great fun.
